It’s Here! Google Analytics Integration

By |September 19th, 2016|

You spend lots of time and money promoting your organization and ultimately sending people to your ASAP online registration site. And what do you know about what they do once they get there? Up until now it’s only been which classes they’re ultimately enrolling in.

In order to really optimize the performance of your site you need more information, and for that you need Google Analytics (GA). Today we’re very excited to announce full integration between GA and your online registration site. Just sign up for a GA account (it’s free), plug your GA tracking code into “Google Analytics ID” field on the ASAP Preferences page, and you’re done.

With GA you can see:

where your students are coming from […]

Friday 8/26 – partial service disruption

By |August 30th, 2016|

This is a follow-up on the partial disruption of service we experienced on our HSRP net between 08:30-08:50 PST on Friday, 8/26/2016.

The event that caused the disruption in service occurred “upstream” from the ASAP network at one of the core internet service providers. For some background, the ASAP network infrastructure is supported by a redundant HSRP circuit, which is backed by multiple ISPs. The ISPs supporting our Internet connectivity are Level 3, ATT, Verizon, and WV Fiber. Traffic to/from the Internet is load balanced between these 4 providers, and in the event of an catastrophic failure on one of these circuits, our traffic will continue to be supported by […]

So long to 2015, hello to 2016…

By |December 31st, 2015|

The year 2015 was a year of growth for the U.S. as well as ASAP. The U.S. economy grew, albeit more slowly than expected. Congress passed a few laws, made some headway on the budget and just recently passed the big new replacement to the ‘not very well received’ No Child Left Behind Act. The new ESSA education act, combined with the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) bill passed in July, will hopefully lead to more emphasis on local control and flexibility to better align education with the community’s needs.

The realization that not everyone should go to college means more time, effort and resources can and should be spent on vocational training […]

Changes To Our Software Update Process

By |November 4th, 2015|

In an ongoing commitment to quality and service we have recently decided to change the way we deliver updates to the ASAP platform. And after several months of planning and preparation we are excited to announce that today will be the last of our traditional “weekly updates”, in favor of a new process designed to improve quality and reduce the potential for deployment-related problems. This new process is known as Continuous Delivery and is used by many of the biggest and most successful cloud service providers including Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Netflix, Airbnb, Atlassian, and even one you may not think of as a software company: Tesla!

Historically we have developed and released […]

Student merge tool down for maintenance

By |September 9th, 2015|

This Saturday, September 12th, we will be taking the student merge tool (Tools > Student Merge) down temporarily while we complete work on a new version of the tool. The new tool will be available some time in October.

Why not make the existing tool available while we work on the new one? 99% of the time the existing tool works perfectly, but there have been reports of student/parent records disappearing after being merged, and we don’t want to take the chance of anyone losing data unexpectedly.

One of the features of the new tool will be the ability to scan your entire student population for duplicates rather than having to go searching name by name. When […]

Introducing Mobile Attendance and Schedules for Instructors

By |August 10th, 2015|

Among an instructor’s least favorite activities, two that are usually at the top of their list are:

recording and submitting attendance
keeping up with changes to their schedules

With that in mind, as a gift to instructors (and administrators) everywhere we present to you the ASAP Teacher’s Assistant app. With Teacher’s Assistant an instructor can record and submit attendance from their phone, right from their classroom. And if there’s a last-minute change to their schedule, that will appear in the app as well.

To make sure there’s no excuse not to give it a try, we’ve made the app really, really easy to use:

Open the app.
Touch the class or lesson you want to submit attendance for.
Mark […]

ASAP Quarterly Product Review For Q2 2015

By |July 29th, 2015|

Every three months we’ll be posting a review of the work we accomplished in the prior quarter. It’s an opportunity to highlight improvements and new features you may not have discovered yet. We’ll also touch on any upcoming projects that have reached the final planning stages in the “What’s Next” section at the bottom of this post.

Today we’re reviewing the projects we completed in the second quarter of 2015.

Finances

We made a large number of “under the hood” improvements to the code that powers our financial features (invoices, fees, financial reports, etc). You won’t see most of these changes visually but you will see improved stability and speed when dealing with […]

Improvements to Recurring Billing

By |March 2nd, 2015|

ASAP’s recurring billing feature gives you the ability to you offer your students various ongoing payment options (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually) when registering for a class.

While one of our more popular features, we’ve received feedback that we don’t make the fact that a class is set up for recurring billing (or what the specific terms of the billing will be) clear enough to the student when they’re registering for the class.

With this in mind we set about to clarify what the student sees on your online registration site as best we can. The following is a summary of the changes that we’ll be adding to the site this Wednesday (March […]

By |September 18th, 2014|

SUNNYVALE, CA — Administrative Software Applications (ASA) announced today the promotion of its Chief Technical Officer Travis Prowell to the position of Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.
