What is the GED really testing?

By |September 29th, 2015|

Some of you may recall the news that there is a new GED (General Educational Development) test in town.

The GED Testing Service, a non-profit, administered the old GED and decided what content was included. The GED was well known as a decent replacement for a high school diploma for any student who dropped out of high school before graduating. Students could go to school, catch up on their education, study and most could successfully pass the GED. This would help them find jobs, better jobs, get into college, and generally move their lives forward.

But then, in 2014 the GED was privatized and is now owned by Pearson, a […]

Introducing Mobile Attendance and Schedules for Instructors

By |August 10th, 2015|

Among an instructor’s least favorite activities, two that are usually at the top of their list are:

recording and submitting attendance
keeping up with changes to their schedules

With that in mind, as a gift to instructors (and administrators) everywhere we present to you the ASAP Teacher’s Assistant app. With Teacher’s Assistant an instructor can record and submit attendance from their phone, right from their classroom. And if there’s a last-minute change to their schedule, that will appear in the app as well.

To make sure there’s no excuse not to give it a try, we’ve made the app really, really easy to use:

Open the app.
Touch the class or lesson you want to submit attendance for.
Mark […]

Some of the features we’ve recently added originated as client suggestions, while other ideas evolved as developers and I redesigned the look and layout of your screen. Let’s check out some of the changes.

One of our most recent improvements is a redesign of our Event Detail page. You’ll notice a few things have been […]

New Feature: Switching Private Lesson Instructors

By |January 30th, 2015|

So an instructor called this morning to say they need to take the final three weeks of the year off due to a family emergency. Or, you got a call from a student and they would like to switch to a different instructor for the remainder of the semester.

In the past you had to drop these students from their lessons and re-enroll them with a new instructor, meaning that switching instructors was possible but not as easy as it should be. Well today we’re making it a whole lot easier.

There are actually two ways to switch instructors now. Both of them can be done from the student’s private lesson detail […]

By |September 18th, 2014|

SUNNYVALE, CA — Administrative Software Applications (ASA) announced today the promotion of its Chief Technical Officer Travis Prowell to the position of Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.

Prowell will direct all corporate departments and the day-to-day operations of its enterprise registration and management software platform, ASAP.

New feature: Redesigned registration forms

By |July 10th, 2014|

For the past several months we’ve been working on a number of improvements to your student registration forms (the ones your student’s complete when registering for a class or creating a new account), and tonight we’re making them available to your customers. Here’s what you need to know:

What are the improvements?

The biggest improvement (for those of you who offer classes to children) is that the new forms allow us to make a parent the primary account holder for a child’s account, rather than the child being the primary account holder as is currently the case.

You’ll now be able to search for a parent’s name via student search (just check the new Show Parents […]

System Alert: Heartbleed Security Vulnerability

By |April 9th, 2014|

As many of you have heard by now, a serious security vulnerability was recently discovered that allowed attackers to access decrypted HTTPS traffic and as a result access secure information in an unencrypted format. The vulnerability is known as the “Heartbleed” bug.

First and foremost, none of the ASAP systems were affected by this bug and no ASAP data was ever compromised directly through this vulnerability. ASAP systems do not in fact use the code libraries (OpenSSL) that contained this particular bug.

But because of the extensive nature of the vulnerability we are strongly suggesting our users, especially those with administrative rights, to change their ASAP system passwords. While ASAP was never […]
