ASAP Extends Its Platform with API

By |January 23rd, 2014|

One of our goals at ASA in 2013 was to build out integrations with 3rd party applications. To accomplish this, we have built some robust APIs. We already have some clients utilizing the APIs for their own purposes and we have used the APIs to build out integrations with several other software platforms. So we figured now was a good time to officially announce and launch our ASAP API.

2012 NRPA Conference

By |November 15th, 2012|

If you want to have some fun, go to the annual NRPA conference. This year it was in Anaheim, CA. Yep, right down the street from Disneyland. And we took advantage of it!  But I digress. Why is it so fun? Because the exhibit hall is chock full of play structures, toys, and gizmos the likes you’ve never seen. Our ASAP booth was next to one of these structures. It was a play structure based on a surf theme towering what seemed like 30-odd feet above the floor. And that one was small compared to some of the others!  No wonder many attendees bring their kids to the show. Product […]

Forty Charleston SC Schools Join ASAP

By |August 23rd, 2012|

After school programs are often run by small organizations around town. Non-profits, YMCAs, schools, PTAs, you name it, all chip in to help keep kids entertained and learning both before and after school. Recently I talked about our new ASAP After-School module we just released. I’m proud to say that one of those organizations, and a large one at that, will be using it to manage their entire program. Charleston County Schools in Charleston, SC has selected ASAP to help bring its after-school program from a program run by 40 different schools, 40 different ways, and mostly on paper, into the modern era. Over 3,500 students (and growing) utilize the […]

Much Simpler: After School Management

By |August 21st, 2012|

There is one area where ASA strives to succeed everyday. Making technology easier to use and more useful to our clients. I’m proud to say that we have made tremendous headway in that direction with our new ASAP module for After-School Programs.

ASAP already has a large number of existing clients using the current functionality within ASAP to manage their after school programs. But there were persistent challenges that we kept encountering as we worked with this diverse market. We would often hear from clients “how do I make this work at our school?” and “that approach is better than we do it today, but my parents still have trouble registering […]

Continuing Education on the Chopping Block: the long-term ramifications

By |July 2nd, 2012|

If ever there were a time to expand the capacity of adult education programs, it would be now.

Recent employment numbers show a very weak US economy with measly job growth and a stubborn unemployment rate above 8%. Add in the underemployed and the people who have just plain given up looking for a job and we are looking at an actual unemployment rate in the mid-teens if not worse. What we have going on is a change in the employment makeup of the United States from manufacturing and traditional businesses into the service sector, including healthcare and new industries that didn’t exist ten years ago. We need a comprehensive continuing education plan […]

Live from UBTech 2012, it’s “Ten Inspiring Technologies & Replicable Examples”

By |June 21st, 2012|

Another blog post from one of the many sessions at UBTech 2012. This one is called “Electronic Constructivism 2012: Ten Inspiring Technologies & Replicable Examples”. The audience is looking nervous and the woman who just presented the speaker announced that she’s out of her wheelhouse on this one, I think the title is intimidating. “Technology You Can Use Now” would scare people less (I’ll pitch it to them next year).

And here we go:

10. Gapminder

A very cool way to display and interact with statistics. They’ve got an online tool but the desktop version is slicker. The founder actually gave a great TED talk a while back (just happen to have the […]

Greetings from Las Vegas!

By |June 12th, 2012|

You have no idea how happy it makes me that that is the first headline of the first post on our new blog :-) And it’s true, too, because we’ve flown out to Las Vegas to attend UBTech 2012, a conference focused on the intersection of technology and higher education. I’ll be blogging live from a number of different seminars, as well as meeting with as many of you here as I can (I’ll tweet my locations and outfit choice tomorrow, shouldn’t be hard to track me down). Right now I’m gonna go try and find something to eat (are there any good restaurants up here?), see you all tomorrow!
