This Saturday, September 12th, we will be taking the student merge tool (Tools > Student Merge) down temporarily while we complete work on a new version of the tool. The new tool will be available some time in October.

Why not make the existing tool available while we work on the new one? 99% of the time the existing tool works perfectly, but there have been reports of student/parent records disappearing after being merged, and we don’t want to take the chance of anyone losing data unexpectedly.

One of the features of the new tool will be the ability to scan your entire student population for duplicates rather than having to go searching name by name. When the new tool launches (we’ll send out an announcement when it does) this new feature will make it easy to find any duplicate records that were created while the tool was unavailable and fix them quickly with no chance of data loss.

If you have any students whom you know you need to merge now, you should do so before end of day Friday.
